We All Fall Down

Cynthia Papermaster is good enough to mention a few things:

1) Study Skills Workshop: Tips From the Experts will happen Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Little Theater. We have tutors, teachers, and students who will share their tips for studying, taking notes, preparing for tests, and improving grades. Refreshments and hopefully Afro-Haitian dance performance too—all for free!

2) BHS Workday and Dedication of the new Campus Green. The Workday is from 9-12:30. We’ll be picking up trash (prize for most collected), weeding, watering, and planting hundreds of red and yellow tulip and daffodil bulbs. The Campus Green Dedication is at 1:00 p.m. and includes a family picnic, student entertainment, and student artwork display. All families are invited. PTSA will provide drinks and dessert. and daffodil bulbs

So shall it be done.

UPDATE: Astute observers may have noticed that, while times are given for the Campus Green Workday and Dedication, no date is mentioned. Just trying to keep you on your toes. The actual day is October 25, next week. Thanks to Kathryn Capps for the clarification.

It never gets dull.

I was almost ready to announce my pleasure at having gotten the Contact page about halfway towards updatedness. I’d just slapped down Kenneth Purser (one of the new deans) and fixed up Clare Davies (the special education director), and lo and behold, the bleeping Daily Planet drops this lovely bomb:

Berkeley High School’s revolving administrative door spun again this month with the unexpected departure of Clare Davies, director of the school’s special education program, and Kenneth Purser, one of the school’s two deans—re-igniting concerns about stability at the 2,700-student school.
