Who, What, Where, When

[Tuesday Jan 13.04 ¬ 12:10 AM]

The deal:

As usual, I managed to underestimate the task of transcribing, web-izing, proofreading, then seamlessly melding the million zillion quadrillion new contact items that I managed to lay my grubby paws on a while ago into the Contact database. After getting creative, working semi-diligently, and enlisting the help of some poor souls as my conscript army, I’ve managed to chop almost all of the new info out of its original iron home and manhandle it into the proper template. (Thanks to David Shere for his help with this.)

However, actually going through this massive collection, which is nearly the size of my original contact list, to (1) Proofread out errors and weirdness, (2) Check against redundancy (i.e. note where my new information mirrors my old, and remove one of the copies), and (3) Figure out the proper department/category for each of these names, most of whom I’ve never heard of and are not labeled by position — well, all of that still needs to be completed. Some is done. Most is not. So rather than keep this juicy stuff from you any longer, I’ve simply dropped the raw information at the bottom of the Contact page in a big heap. If you need to find someone that ain’t on the normal list, look there; odds are it could be present. Of course, it will be harder to find than normal, since the only organization is alphabetical, but it’s there. (Consider using your browser’s “search page” feature, Control-F on Windows or Command-F on Mac.) Please do, however, take everything there with a grain of salt; like I said, I haven’t really proofread or sanity-checked most of it, so there could not only be errors, but some really crazy stuff.

As I get around to finishing the proper cataloguing of the big-ol’-data-dump, it will slowly get shuffled back into the ordinary contact list as each item finds its proper place. Eventually, the “temporary” section should disappear entirely.

In the interest of credit where credit is due, this information is wholly culled both from the district’s site and from gracious information sharing by parents, faculty, and students.

The new building is open — parts of it, anyway. The name? The “D” building, as is proper in the general naming system (wherein buildings are initialed by the first letter of their adjoining street), situated as it is on Dwight.

Next week is finals, then the end of the semester. Monday, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, is a holiday. Right now, we’re studying and panicking.

Good luck.

Brandon
