Beautiful Morning

[Wednesday Aug 30.06 ¬ 10:59 PM]

So it goes.

Last year Brandon Oto wrote his farewell article at the very end of the school year. This year I am writing mine at the beginning of the new school year because I lack the certain eloquence that Brandon has to say the right thing and organizational skills Brandon has to do things in a timely manner.

And of course there’s an added difficulty—I can’t simply say the same thing that he did. So. I will be brief and mostly unreflective, because otherwise, all that will come out are clichés. You know the ones. This is an ending, but also a beginning.

I haven’t been as good to this website as I should have been. I loved it, but it was never my baby the way it was Brandon’s. Without that, and without anyone to force me to keep the website up-to-date, it fell by the wayside in my list of senior year priorities.

I don’t want that to happen this year. I am leaving the website in the charge of Josh Goldenberg, a CAS senior, who you will no doubt be hearing from over the next few weeks, but I will also be leaving him in charge of a group of CAS seniors to keep the website up and running.

I think putting a group in command of the website will be a good move. You don’t want to hear just one opinion all the time; you should have many. The commenting system helps a little, but not enough. Hopefully the group would keep each other motivated to update frequently, but they’ll have less work because they’ll be sharing the load. This is a step towards becoming the community-oriented website that Brandon said it should be.

It’s an ending of one era and the beginning of another.

Harris
