[Wednesday Jan 31.07 ¬ 3:03 PM]The Beginning of Second Semester
The first semester officially ended on 1/26/07 and the second semester officially began on 1/30/07. For the underclassmen at Berkeley High the beginning of second semester doesn’t mark anything significant but I’d beg to differ for seniors at Berkeley High. The second semester doesn’t only mark the period for seniors to settle down and work a little less, it also marks the first glimpses of the light at the end of the tunnel from the seniors’ perspective. When I talk with all my friends none of us can resist gushing about how we’re almost done with Berkeley High and ready to move on to college. It’s only been my second day back to Berkeley High since the end of the first semester and I can tell that I’m going to have the most fun with Berkeley High during this semester. Not having a first period is awesome and the automatic respect you get for being a senior is nice too. Sitting on the bench on top of the senior steps this morning gave me a special feeling that I seek to feel again as soon as possible. Watching underclassmen walking back to their classes with hall passes really made me reflect on how hard I worked to get where I was to where I am today. I worked my ass off to put myself in line to graduate and now I can reap the benefits such at not having to take a first period class and taking more classes that I want to take rather then not. To any underclassmen wondering what they were supposed to get out of this article I have an answer for them. Continue working hard and putting school first and you will be in my spot before you know it. When I think back to my freshmen year I remember it like it happened a year ago when it truth it has been 2 and a half years since I was a freshmen.
